For year 2014, Travolunteers decided to help our kababayan's in Kalibo, Aklan. Our project is to help some of the families who were affected by typhoon Yolanda to rebuild their houses. We will be doing medical mission also in a small community. Last weekend, May 24-25, two of Travolunteer members went to Kalibo to see the current situation of the families affected and also to check the ongoing construction of houses. Below are some pictures of the beneficiaries together with Ghe and Ryan. We are in coordination with one non-government institution that is helping us to make this activity possible. Well, I guess the right word is "In partnership". We are still accepting donations but we prefer Money to support the ongoing construction expenses and Medicines for the medical mission. Remember: in helping, "no amount is too small." Actual Visit of Geraldine Lugod and Ryan Garcia. last May 24-25,2014 Photo Credits: Ryan Garcia This is the model house designed and built by Kool Earth (our NGO partner in Aklan) for other families in the community. The families of Rosemay, Nikki, and Bing will soon have one. This is how Bing's house looked like after Typhoon Yolanda/ Haiyan. They now live under it's roof which almost doesn't give them protection especially from the rain. Her two kids had to stop going to school and started working to help the family. Help us rebuild their home. The walls of Ate Nikki's house are made of trapal and bamboos that have lots of holes that do not offer a lot of protection when it is raining. Her kids are scholars of some schools in Kalibo. Look how many medals they have collected! Let us help them rebuild their house! This is what's left of Rosemay's house after Typhoon Yolanda. Help us rebuild it.
